Former Executive Director, Maine Education Association; Former educator; Chairman Readfield Planning Board; Board of Directors Friends of Cobossee Watershed; Legislative Contact Team for Maine Retired Teachers Association; Appalachian Trail Conference; Maine Appalachian Trail Club Development Committee; Maintains 3.8 miles of Appalachian Trail; climbed Mt. Katahdin 54 consecutive years.

Currently on the Board of PortTix and Advisory Trustee of the Portland Symphony Orchestra.; Past Board work includes Portland Symphony Orchestra, Tilton School (Tilton, NH), Junior Achievement of Southwestern Maine; Member Appalachian Mountain Club and past chair of Maine Chapter; Climbed all 4000 footers in New England;  Hobbies hiking, bicycling, sea kayaking, cross country skiing.

Ten years of professional and volunteer fundraising experience in the social services, higher education, and arts fields; spent five seasons working in the AMC’s backcountry hut system.  

  1. Roy Hibyan

Currently Executive Vice President of Androscoggin Bank with responsibilities for bank operations and technology.  He has spent most of the past 38-years in community banking here in Maine.  Roy has been involved in many community activities including board involvement on United Way, Maine Technical College system, and Boys & Girls Club, to name a few.  Hiking and camping have been an important part of his family interests. 

  1. Lester C. Kenway

Program Coordinator of the Maine Conservation Corps since 2001.   Trails Supervisor of Baxter State Park from 1978 – 2000, responsible for construction and maintenance of 202 miles of hiking trails.

President, Community Development Services, Inc. (consultants in housing & community development), former bank officer; Appalachian Trail Conference Board of Managers, Land Trust Advisory Committee; Director, Maine Appalachian Trail Club, Chairman Finance Committee; Board of Directors Yarmouth Affordable Housing Corporation.

Owner and CEO of McClain Marketing Group, Portland; over 20 years marketing experience, former Director of Marketing for Pierce Atwood law firm and Martin’s Point Health Care; Appalachian Mountain Club; Outdoor Industry Association; Leave No Trace; Business 4 Wilderness; Continental Divide Trail Association; Hurricane Island Bound School; Board Member, Western Mountains Foundation. 

  1. Peter McKinley

Former Vice President of Operations and Ecological Planning for Hancock Land Company.  He previously worked for the Manomet Center for Conservation Sciences and developed a cooperative research project between non-profit research organizations and the timber industry in Maine.  He was the A.T. trail maintainer on Barren-Chairback mountain while in college. 

  1. William Plouffe

Attorney, practice concentrated in municipal and environmental law;

Former Staff Attorney for Maine Audubon Society; Councilor for Natural Resources Council, Appalachian Mountain Club, Maine Appalachian Trail Club, Appalachian Mountain Club, Appalachian Trail Conference. 

  1. James Thorne

Retired from career in real estate; active volunteer with the Appalachian Mountain Club and Maine Audubon for over 30 years; previously served as Maine Chapter Chair for AMC and was on their national board; former Board member Maine Audubon. 

  1. Vera H. Trafton

Retired teacher of English and German.  Artist.  Director at large, Western Maine Audubon Board.
